… yarn, of course! No dyed eggs for me this Easter. Just lots of great yarn that has been showing up to evaluate, make new designs, knit additional models for the June TNNA trade show, etc. |
After being heads down the past couple of weeks getting out the new release of patterns, it is going to be fun to take a break and play with these and other yarns that have come in.
This is the new Sock-Ease yarn from Lion Brand in 7 colorways. They make a cute Easter basket, don’t you think? The yarn is fingering weight 75% wool/25% nylon, machine washable and dryable, and finished with aloe vera. The balls are 100g (3.5 oz) of 400 m (438 yds). Plenty to make a pair of socks in most sizes and styles.
The length of the main color repeats is very long, with shorter accent sections of accent color. I’ll be testing the yarn today in my Country Girl Socks pattern and will give you a further report later.
For those who celebrate, Happy Easter!
Hi Jepkey, Lion Brand sent me the yarn to test and design with. I have not seen that it is generally available quite yet (and don’t know the ball-park price that it will run), but I am sure it will be available soon as Lion Brand had introduced the yarn at the February CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) trade show for businesses to place orders. I’ve sampled two of the existing HeartStrings designs with the yarns. See what you think — You can see Country Girl Socks in the Sour Ball color and Concertina Lace Socks in the Lemon Drop color in two of the blog entries following this one. I am very pleased with the way the colors work in this yarn, so will be going forward with a new sock design specifically featuring this yarn. I’ve got at least 5 possible designs brewing that ‘play’ on the candy color names. Do drop by again now and then to see how things are progressing! Happy knitting, Jackie E-S
Where did you get the beautiful Lion Brand Sock Ease? I missed the Magic Stripes that they used to offer, glad they came out with a new sock yarn. Was it terribly expensive?
