Win this skein of Schaefer Yarn

This hand-painted skein of Schaefer yarn reminds me of the blazing colors of fall. Would you like to win it? Just leave a comment on this blog post about which HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn (check the yarn details below). I’ll do a random drawing on October 15th. Your comment will count as your entry into the drawing.

Win this skein of Schaefer Anne yarn
Win this skein of Schaefer Anne yarn

This is Anne, a 3-ply fingering yarn blend of Merino wool superwash, mohair and nylon. The skein is a huge 4 oz/560 yards. Care is Hand or Machine Wash. There is no color name on the label (this is probably a one-of-a-kind skein), but it appears to have been similar to the colorway called Emily Dickinson which Cheryl Schaefer used to dye on cotton/silk.

Remember to leave your email address on your comment so that I can contact you for your U.S. shipping address if you win! (sorry, I can only do U.S. shipping for this; if you are out of the country, please make arrangements with a friend)

Good luck!

p.s. For 2 chances to win … Also leave a comment on the HeartStrings FiberArts Facebook fan page about the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn, and it will count as an additional entry into the drawing and another chance to win. Don’t forget to “like” HeartStrings so I can contact you if you win.

  3. Jackie,

Thank you so very much. I cannot believe that I actually won that beautiful yarn.

Thanks again for a lovely giveaway.
    Rose

  4. I would use this yarn for the Elemental Changes Shetland Lace Stole and Scarf HeartStrings knitting pattern #H53. The name caught my eye, as the seasons changing are “elemental” and I also love Shetland Lace patterns. Nice to combine them all in on beautiful shawl!

  5. I love the look of the Scotch Thistle Lace Stole… and it’s made with Schaefer Anne, too! Simply beautiful! I love the colors of this skein together… stunning! 🙂

  6. I’ve made a triangular scarf with Schaefer’s Anne in the past. These colors would be lovely for fall!!

  7. This yarn is perfect for this time of year and also for the ongoing BCA. The lovely and vibrant pink is perfect.
I would make the Rock Star Choker with this yarn and wear it so very proudly.

  8. Ooh, I would make either the Colorful Splendor Lace Scarf or the Pulled Salt Water Taffy socks. Both would look amazing!

  9. I really like the Country Girl Socks and even the new Pulled Salt Water Taffy Socks pattern would be an adventure to knit with this yarn…I could go on an on. So many great patterns, so little time…

  10. I’ve made a few shawls as gifts with this yarn already and never kept one for myself…no socks yet out of it either but I think I’ve have to say that I’d knit the Diamond Lace Dress-it-up Scarf. It’s been on my knit list for quite a while!

  11. I have had Beaded Smoke Ring in my sights forever (also Flared Lace Smoke Ring) … love it and would love to try this yarn!

    1. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing. Good luck!

  12. I would make the “Beaded Offset Chevrons Hand Warmers and Socks.” They would be bright and cheerful and eye-catching in this yarn!

  13. Like Gabrielle, I also love the Elegantly Simple Triangle Shawl. For a bright variegated yarn like this, though, I think I’d go for the Lacy Maizy wrap. That would be such a quick and cheerful accessory!

    1. If you’d like a chance to win this lovely yarn, I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  14. I love this yarn. In fact, I love all of the Schaefer yarns. I can see this yarn being used to knit the V-Start Neck Kerchief which I think is a gorgeous garment and would love to knit it using a Schaefer yarn.
Thank you for such a beautiful pattern.

  15. This yarn is lovely to work with, and anything would probably be luscious in this colorway of Anne. The simple pattern of the Shallow Tri scarf with it’s various ways to wear it captured my imagination. The lace edging is just enough intrigue to keep the project interesting and the long garter stitch rows make it good for those times when you like to talk and knit at the same time.

  16. I would make up the Faires and Flowers…it is definetly a color scheme for our little faries flittering about wildflowers in a the open fields.

  17. I can see this made up into a slightly shorter version of the 1/2 note Symphony Shawl. Can you see the ebb and flow of the music as the instruments join or leave the stream according to their cues? The quiet greens of the woodwinds, the soft peachy orange as the strings join in, the reds where the brass joins, and the smashing wonderful crescendo of the kettle and bass drums as the symphony brings the excitement of the orchestra and the audience to peak after peak of breathlessness? Truly an expression of the composer’s anticipation of opening night.

  18. I can see it worked up in the “Feat of Twist” sock pattern! October 15th is the day before my birthday… wouldn’t THAT be the greatest birthday present!

  19. Oh my….now you’ve got me thinking about the Elegantly Simple Triangle Shawl….since the Feather and Fan stitch (one of my absolute favorites, and one I also use on my own for Smoke Rings…) would be absolutely gorgeous with it’s undulating waves….oh goodness…choices, choices. So many Smoke Rings, Shawls, Socks, and other goodies..so little time…LOL…although with fingering weight, it does make it a bit faster…working on a shawl now in lace weight..will be gorgeous, but does take a bit longer…but well worth the time! Jackie, you’re MAH-VAH-LOUS! LOL…you give us WAY too many choices and WAY too much fantastic yarn to choose from…LOL…I have so many of your patterns, I never run out of things to do, just usually stumped by what to cast on next…LOL..and OOOOOOooo…what color, what weight? LOL…I’m a ‘yarn hoarder’, especially Jackie’s choices..and a pattern hoarder…so get back to work Jackie, I need more of your patterns!!!! (As if I didn’t have them all already and not be able to choose…LOL)

  20. I think the variegation in this yarn would be lovely in the Colorful Splendor Lace Scarf. That is what I would want to make. 🙂

  21. The Reversible Lace Cables Scarf is just begging to be knitted in this yarn. With such bright colors and airy pattern it could well be a year round scarf.

  22. I can just picture this brightening up everything from a turtle neck, to highlighting a scoop neck top. My personal favorite would be to use it for V-Start Neck Kerchief
    Pattern #H182

  23. I think this would be great for the Pulled Salt Water Taffy Socks. I’ve already ordered the pattern, and I hope I’ll be able to use this yarn. It looks delicious!

  24. Gotta disagree…this is the yarn for Circle of Friendship socks. I’m a professed Yarn Junkie, Yarn hoarder and sock knitting freak – have only 7 on needles now so I can pick a sock in any room in the house and of course one in my purse just in case! So anyway, love the pattern can’t wait to try it out!

  25. The Symphony V Mobius caught my eye immediately. The Skinny on Lace is also cool. The colors are really great and would definitely make any of the patterns look awesome.

  26. This yarn would knit up wonderfully in the Tri Shallow Shawl pattern #H57. The garter knit in the main body would show off the hand-painted colorway while the lace trim and beading would give it a little extra sparkle.

  27. I will throw my hat in the ring here and say that although Flower Basket Shawl would be nice, Flowers and Faeiries would be one I’d queue immediately!

  28. I think peek a bead would look fabulous in this.

  29. OOOOooooo….for me, this is an easy one….wouldn’t this make a lovely fall Flared Lace Smoke Ring???? I LOVE Smoke Rings. I have the pattern for this one and use it over and over….it makes the most fantastic gifts, and it never yet has missed the “OHHHHHHHHHH!” factor! When someone opens the gift and sees it, they first gently pick it up, then rub it against their cheek…then put it on! They pull it down around their neck, run to a mirror, and admire it..then pull it up over their head as a cowl, and stand, absolutely stunned. Never fails! THiS one would be MINE…LOL…such beautiful colors….

  30. That is the easiest question ever: Wrapped up in Bows. Although, it’s been fun reading everyone elses responses. It’s made me look at other patterns that I might normally skip over. However, I have wanted to make Wrapped up in Bows for almost two years now – ever since I saw a sample at Stitches West.

  31. Oooh, it would be lovely as the Peek a Bead scarf! I would use iridescent beads with this yarn.

  32. I would knit the Colorful Splendor Lace Scarf with the yarn I think it would look gorgeous!

  33. Far too yummy looking to make a snap decision on what to make, I think I would need to hold in in my hands for a bit and let the skein tell me what to make…

    1. Well, I guess you will need to pretend You are the skein of yarn, lol. Remember, we are just playing. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that you could be made in. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  34. I find vintage Feather and Fan an enduringly charming stitch pattern, and I loved your use of it in the Elegantly Simple Triangle Shawl #A33. I think the moving colors in the Shaefer yarn would look very nice in it.

Have to admit my other favorite is the Easy Asymmetrical Wrap # HO1 and I think along with the interesting construction and the simple lace pattern, the lively colors of the Schaefer yarn could work wonderfully in this too. In fact I now have a yen to dig the pattern out of my collection and knit it!

I love (and own) many of your designs and really, almost any of your lace scarves/wraps would look good in this yarn!

  35. Wouldn’t this make a lovely Lace and Cables scarf. But I think I would try the Peek-a-Bead scarf even tho that calls for a 4 ply fingering and this is a 3 ply. But if I was substituting a 3 ply for a 4 I would have to make the Down and Up Lace Socks. They are so gorgeous and in this colorway. . .

  36. I think that this beautiful yarn would look stunning made up as the Diamond Lace Dress-it-up Scarf.

  37. I think this yarn would be gorgeous in the “Shallow Tri Shawl” pattern! Or pretty much any shawl that has a somewhat simple stitch pattern so the colours of the yarn don’t get lost in the design. I’m from Canada but I have someone in the US who I could send to!

  38. Such a lovely yarn. I think it would make a perfect Lace Leaves Scarf. The colors remind me so much of taffy though that I might have to make my first ever socks with your Pulled Salt Water Taffy Socks.

  39. Hmmm… hard choice! I automatically thought lace, but without looking at the color repeats it’s hard to say if it would work. But I do like the Lead or Follow lace scarf. Or a ring… those colors would be lovely up by the face… maybe the Beaded Smoke Ring (with some subtle pink pearl glistenings).

  40. Wow, wouldn’t I just love to play with this yarn. As for a favorite pattern there is no way I could choose just one. However I am still in love with the first I purchased.Ethereal Fichu. I would love to see this yarn in the Triangle within a Triangle. Finally, thank you for making all these gorgeous patterns and yarns available.

  41. If I won this skein, I would try it in the Maple Leave scarf pattern firstly but if that didn’t work, I would try your new Pulled Taffy sock pattern. I have knit many of your patterns, Jackie! My favorite of all is that Smoke Ring you did – I bought that lovely yarn from you a year of so ago…can’t remember it’s name at the moment but you only had a limited amount of it left. However, I don’t think this Shaefer would work in that lace smoke ring so I chose another favorite!

Thanks for the chance to enter your giveaway!

  42. Oops hit enter instead of the return key!

    Let’s start again…

Reminds me of an Amherst Fall day — perfect weather for the V-Start Neck Kerchief!

  43. I think ANY lace pattern by Heartstrings FiberArts would be lovely with this yarn. What lovely colors!

    1. Yes, there are so many possibilities, aren’t there? I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  44. I think this yarn would make a beautiful pair of Pulled Salt Water Taffy socjks, the colors are perfect!

  45. i love the yarn the pulled taffy socks or maybe I would go my own way and make a long skinny scarf

  46. I would love to to win the pulled taffy socks. They look great! Thanks for being so generous.

  47. Yarn looks so soft and yummy. I think the Scotch Thistle Lace Scarf would be very eyecatching in these colors aside from being an interesting knit.

  48. You have so many patterns that this yarn would be perfect for, But, I would probably use it for A33 elegantly simple triangle shawl. I have used the Anne for other projects and it is wonderful to knit with.

  49. Thanks for the giveaway ! I would use the Schaefer yarn to make the Colorful Splendor Lace Scarf ! Love the colors !!!

  50. This may be too pretty for socks, but the pulled taffy socks would be worth it. The Times Two scarf would show it off nicely, too.
    🙂

  51. would love to have this yarn to make my first pair of socks. i would give them to my niece who is a college student for Christmas.

    1. I hope you will take a look at the HeartStrings socks patterns then return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing. There are some relatively basic, but fun sock patterns there that would be nice for a beginning sock knitter (or even those that aren’t new to socks).

  52. Love Schaefer yarns and this colourway would be lovely in your peek-a-bead scarf! And if I win, I hope I can find a friend in the USA! Gosh-I’d be willing to pay my own postage!

  53. i have given socks as gifts for oh so long and this yarn would make a cheerful pair of pulled taffy socks.

  54. I love all your baby patterns, but I think I would make the V-Start Neck as it would show everyone the beautiful colors immediately……….

  55. I would make the lovely Peek a Bead scarf…I’ve been wanting to try it for a while now. Thank you!

  56. The colors suggest the slat water taafy sock pattern althugh i would like the V scarf for spring…

  57. I would so make this: Beaded Stress Reflief Balls
as the perfect gift for my daughter suffering (and afflicting us) with a horrible case of Senioritis. College here we come where we will need these as well.

    1. Oh — tee! hee! I haven’t even finished this pattern yet. I guess I better get a move on it, lol. Good luck with your daughter in her senior year and college ahead.

  58. That yarn is gorgeous, it would be nice for the Pulled Taffy pattern although I also like the Rainy Day pattern, just added both to my Ravelry queue! It would also be nice for a shawl, I can’t decide…

  59. This is seriously beautiful wool and will look fabulous on me when I knit it up in the Beanstalk pattern. Thanks for giving all of us a chance to win.

    1. Although this one skein does have a lot of yarn, there is not enough even in the smallest size for the entire Beanstalk sweater. Sorry. Do you have ideas of how you might be able to go about using 2 different yarns in this (since you wouldn’t have enough of this one skein)? I had never really thought about how that would be done for this pattern, and it sort of has me scratching my head. Would love to hear your ideas.

    1. After you’ve had a chance to look through the HeartStrings socks patterns, I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings socks pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  60. I would definitely go for the Fairies and Flowers pattern! Even though it is 3ply yarn, I would knit it with quite a thicker needle size.

This would both look lovely on me (*wink*) but can also be a great gift for someone else. And we all know what a great feeling it is when someone is happy with your knitwear, don’t we?!

Have a nice day all! Ciao, Fleur (Fleurtje-Eliza on Ravelry)

  61. If I were to win this lovely Schaefer yarn, I would knit the Ring of Lace Wrap. Just beautiful!!

  62. OMG….gotta have those beautiful …no, those gorgeous….no, those terrific….no, those out of sight lacy looking fingerless gloves. Bar none, they are the best. WOW….For a 71 year out, I still use the adjectives. giggle….but I am sincere. Never have I seen prettier fingerless gloves. They are awesome. Hope I win the contest and can use it to make some.
Thanks for the opportunity. I write, sew, knit and crochet. I have made and given away larger cloth dolls to 67 children with cancer and other devestating problems…and have a link if you want to see some of the dolls, plus 3 children of the 67, that got a doll. I’ll keep on keeping on. I believe in the pay it forward philosophy, having lost family and friends to ancer and other things.

  63. I would make this yarn into a scarf with the diamond pattern. It would be wonderful to knit with this yarn. 🙂

    1. Oh, which of the diamond scarf patterns were you thinking of? I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of a HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  64. Just when I was looking for a handpainted yarn to make ME a shawl, I get your latest newletter. Now I am in a quandry – A Touch of Beaded Class, Narrow Lace or Lace Leaves? Scotch Thistle? I do love A Touch of Class, though. . .

  65. I love both the V Start Neck Kerchef as well as the Salt Watter taffy socks but if I have to choose one it would be the V Start

    1. Ah … but that is not a HeartStrings pattern. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  66. I love this year! I would make either the Flared Lace Smoke Ring or the Ring of Lace Wrap. With the cool weather I am leaning toward the Ring of Lace. I have 3, maybe 4 sweaters the yarn would complement.

  67. I thought it was sweet of you to write me until I received so many………….no problem at all. Tech probs happen all the time. I finally just deleted them.
I still like the yarn, too. 😉

  68. Wow Jackie this is generous! A skein of Anne! Hmmm…….Definitely Peaks and Valleys scarf! Simple, would show off the colors, and would feed my need for (not quite) instant gratification. I would probably give it to my daughter. I have plans to send her to college next fall with as many handknits as possible. Just to remind her that I love her. She’s not huggy and neither am I, she’s a teenage girl….. I don’t knit for just anyone, but her? I knit for her.

  69. Jackie–I think the yarn would be great in the new pulled taffy socks! What a great pattern!

  70. I think that this yarn would look wonderful using the Peggy’s shawl pattern. Lovely.

  71. Hmmmm…..this yarn would look really cool with the Peaks and Valleys scarf maybe. What fun colors to play with.

  72. I think I would knit the Peek-a-Bead scarf, with iridescent beads to match the changing colors. This is a beautiful yarn!

  73. Peak a bead scarf would be devine in this yarn. I would love to try it as I have never used your yarn. Scarf would be a new thing for me the stiches so all around would be a new experence for me.

  74. I would use the yarn to make the new Pulled Salt Water Taffy socks. I think the bright colors would really pop in these socks

    1. I’m sorry about the email problem earlier this afternoon. That was corrected about 3 hours ago (~6 pm CDT), so you should not be receiving any more comment emails after that time.

  75. Flared Lace Smoke Ring is my current favorite, but you have too many beauties to chose only one! Love the yar, very colorful.

  76. I really think that the schaffer yarn would be best used for the Pulled Taffy socks. I love to wear Bright colors on my feet.

  77. I’ve been waiting for a yarn to do my Japanese shawl. This would work well. Or maybe a gaptastic scarf.

  78. I would make Lace Leaves Scarf or Sctoch Thistle lace stole with this beautiful yarn if I win it!

  79. Thanks for the contest! I love all your lacy patters but for this particular skein, I think I may try Peaks and Valleys, the Lacy Serpentine Scarf or the Times Two Reverible Scarf.

  80. I think the Reversible Lace Cables Scarf would be lovely in this yarn, but so would many other patterns. Gorgeous yarn. Thanks for the chance to win it.

  81. I would do a flared lace smoke ring. I have knit 3 in solid colors and I was thinking I’d like to try one with variegated yarn and this yarn would be beautiful.

    1. Sounds like you’ve gotten your money’s worth out of that pattern. So glad to hear you are enjoying it. Feel free to post pictures on the HeartStrings facebook wall page. We love to ooh and aah. 🙂

  82. Beautiful colorway! Thank you for the generous giveaway! I think I would knit the Scotch Thistle Lace Stole with this.
    Thanks,
    Karen

  83. I love the idea of this in Peek-a-Bead, I even have some beautiful diachroaic glass beads thhat would look heavenly!

  84. I would love to make Maple Leaves Scarf Pattern out of this yarn. I have loved this pattern for a quite awhile now as I love fall so much. Beautiful trees and quite often a beautiful blue sky with no clouds. I love your patterns Jackie. Miriam Duguid

  85. I can envision the ‘Anne’ yarn in your beautiful, “Maple Leaves Scarf,” a pattern I’ve had my eyes on for some time now. Thank you, Jackie, for running this fun contenst.

  86. If I were to win this awesome yarn I would knit the Circle of Friendship Socks
and gift them to someone undergoing chemo and would also knit hand warmers if there were enough yarn left

    1. That is so heartfelt, Sandy. It is so hard to see our loved ones fighting cancer and going through chemo. I wish your niece all the best.

  87. I would love to win this yarn so I could knit something for my daughter-in-law, she really appreciates what I make for her. I currently have a pair of flip top mittens on the needles for her

  88. This yarn would be perfect for the Circle of Friendship Socks!! I really like those. 🙂

  89. I would definitely try Hanging Vines, the fall colors would be spectacular and the size is adjustable!

  90. Iwould knit a shawlette or socks. It would be a pleasure since I never knitted or crochet with this kind of yarn before.I would be very excited to win this yarn.

    1. I look forward to you returning here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings shawlette or socks pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing. Thanks for playing.

  91. I’m thinking the maple leaf scarf. The colors might not be exactly ‘maplely’ but I like the idea of it looking like falling leaves.

  92. This beautiful yarn would look pretty in your “Maple Leaves Scarf,” a pattern I’ve admired for some time now. Thank you, Jackie, for having this neat contest.

  93. I love a lot of those patterns… but I think I’d like to see it done in either Fairies and Flowers Scarf or Symphony V Mobius Pattern.

  94. This is beautiful and I believe any of your easy stoles, scarves or wraps would be perfect for this. Thanks for giving.

    1. You are welcome. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name(s) of the easy HeartStrings stole, scarf or wrap pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

      1. Sorry – I thought I had put down Diamond Lace Scarf or Peaks & Valley scarf which was difficult to choose from with all your patterns. Again, thanks.

  95. I have liked the Peek-a-Bead Scarf for a while now. I think it would work well with the yarn you are so kindly giving away.

    1. I’m sorry, I don’t have any HeartStrings patterns for domino shawls. But if you wanted to enter the contest with the name of your suggested HeartStrings pattern, you can still do that.

  96. A skein of yarn this colorful is perfect for the Colorful Splendor Lace Scarf. Since that pattern calls for laceweight and this yarn is fingering, I’d probably change the pattern a little to make 2 narrower scarves, one for me and one for a present for one of three November birthday girls in my family 🙂

  97. Symphony V Mobius would look so colorful and cheerful in this handpainted yarn. Thanks for this opportunity to tell you our ideas and win a skein of yarn. You are the best!
    Mary Kay

    1. Yes, thank you (and everyone else) for sharing ideas for this yarn. In fact, I am getting so inspired, I just might want to keep it myself, lol. Don’t be worried, I PROMISE I will keep my word and draw the lucky winner from one of you’all next Saturday, Oct 15th. Keep the ideas coming!

    1. Sounds like a plan. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings leaf-themed pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

      1. I apologize to you and everyone else. I had an incorrect setting on my blog. But it is fixed now. Live and learn. I hope I have not caused too much anguish. I hope you can forgive me. Back to our knitting and fun, ok?

    1. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing. To begin with, maybe check out some of the lace patterns in the Easy Does It (easy knitting patterns) collection at the HeartStrings website.

  98. Buds in the breeze would look great 🙂

  99. This is a lovely looking yarn. I think the rainbow socks pattern would really show it off for a nice pair of warm and colorful socks that I’d venture to guess even Arlo Gurthrie might wear.

  100. Oh, I love so many of your patterns, and especially any of them with hearts!! I am intrigued by the new v-start Kerchief, it looks as if it has hearts in the pattern, too!
    (((hugs)))

  101. Get an Edge Start a Shawl–the variegated yarn would work up great with the 10 in lace border–great colors. Happy Fall Knitting!

  102. I would love to knit this up into the Scotch Thistle Lace Stole! This is beautiful yarn! Thank you so much for the wonderful yarns and patterns you offer to us!

  103. Would love to use this beauriful yarn to make the V neck kerchief. I could make more that one to give to a friend.

  104. Hello, I love all your patterns…but I think this yarn would be lovely and whimisical in one of your Smokerings (I have three of your patterns). The yarn color is just gorgeous! Thank you for making us all get a chance of having it.
    Good luck.
    teresa

    1. When you get a chance, take a look at your smoke rings and return here to the blog to post the name of at least one of those HeartStrings smoke ring patterns you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

    1. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  105. This beautiful yarn needs to be maple leaf socks and the leftovers could be mitts or a cowl. Gorgeous colors.

  106. The yarn is so beautiful. I am addicted to sock knitting and Pulled taffy socks will look beautiful in this color way.
Please, please pick me in the random drawing.

  107. I like every pattern on your website! I would use the yarn to make something for my daughter-in-law. She appreciates any thing I make for her. Right now on the needles is a pair of flip top mittens.

    1. I’m sure your daughter-in-law would love something knit by you. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  108. Left comment of FB. I am in love with pink. So this yarn is outstanding in my opinion. Wonder what I would knit with it? I would find something that is for sure.

    1. When you decide, I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  109. oh, i think i would do the faux ikat, i’m not sure the colors are dyed to do this but it would still be pretty!

    1. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings faux ikat pattern that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  110. I keep looking at the Scottish Thistle Stole because the fibre looks like it could pooling or just short bursts of colour would blend in wonderfully. Since the colourway of the yarn has a lot of colours involved, I am leaning toward the sock called Country Girl. This pattern has the downward appearance of the leaves drifting slowly toward the ground.

I love the new Salt Water Taffy socks, and I have the Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock yarn in Somerset. Thanks for finding the perfect pattern for one of my favourites of Lorna’s colourways in sock yarn.

Thanks for offering the free skein.

  111. Hi, just love the bright colors in that skein of Anna! I would make the pattern #H182 – the V-start neck kerchief out of it. That would really pop!

  112. I think these colors would be lovely in the Hanging Vines pattern. Easily adapted to fit this yardage and not waste an inch of this colorful skein!

  113. I love Crest of the Waves Lace Scarf and Hanging Vines Stole. Anything would be beautiful with this yarn. Thanks for showing this yarn on your website.

  114. Oh, the V-start neck kerchief would be simply lovely in the yarn offered-and that skein would most likely make 2 or 3 as everybody will want one when they see MINE!

  115. The yarn is awesome, this is the first time I actually looked at your site, and your patterns are so inspiring, I truly liked the V-Start Neck Kerchief, it’s so glamourous. Sure, I’d like to win it, but right now I just need to see more of your site, I am impressed.

  116. I would love to make A Beaded Bias Towards Lace Scarf
. It would be so pretty with this yarn. Debbie H

  117. I think the Moebius Zig-Zag shawl would show off the wonderful color variations of this yarn.

  118. What a wonderful blend of bright colors !!! I would like to do the Shallow Sideways Tri Shawl – HeartStrings knitting pattern #H75 in this yarn. I believe the variegation in color of the yarn would be nicely offset by the eyelet pattern of the shawl. If any yarn remained, i would like a triangle headscarf to match!

  119. Since I have never knitted with handpainted yarn, this would be a perfect place to start. I love the Lead or Follow Lace scarf and I also love the colors in the yarn. Your pieces are so pretty – many would be great in those colors.
Thanks for the chance to win.

  120. I would use this yarn for the V-Start Neck Kerchief even though the pattern calls for laceweight. It would make a thicker scarf and I could get more than one out of the skein!

  121. I have several of your patterns. I think the Cat’s Cradle Long-ways Scarf might be the best way to show off the yarn colors for this.

  122. I think the all over lace faroese shawl would be lovely in the fall colorway…..

  123. I have a friend who is currently under medical treatment for cancer. I would like to make a shawl for her, the colors would surely cheer her up.

    1. That would be so nice for your friend. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings shawl pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn for her. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  124. This yummy yarn would make an excellent shawl for these cool fall nights that we are starting to have…..also a pair of lace work socks would be lovely as well…… So many ideas swirling around in my head..

  125. I LOVE Schaefer yarn AND your patterns! I’m addicted to lace and have no idea which pattern I would knit with this yarn. I would love to win it and be faced with the dilemma of deciding, though! What fun!

  128. I think the versatile Pattern #W40, 2-3 gauge sweater, would look lovely in this varigated yarn.

  129. I think the yarn in the give away would be beautiful in the Lead or Follow Scarf, A 52. I like color variations when knitting something soft. Those colors are particularly beautiful. Thanks for doing this give away for us.

  130. I think Heartstrings Colorful Splendor Lace Scarf knitting pattern #H41 would show off the yarn’s beautiful hues. What nice gifts for special friends.

Thank you for this great giveaway!

  131. The yarn colors are wonderful and my project would be the V-start Neck Kerchief.
I love things that give extra warmth without all the extra bulk

it would be lovely to use with your new pattern
    Kitty smiles
    Arlene

  144. My comment did not post but I would do Asymmetry or Spiral Nebula – both would look great in those colors

  145. Wouldn’t your new sock pattern look awesome in it!

    Pulled Salt Water Taffy Socks

  146. Glad to see you back and with a new newsletter… You are always motivating. You have been missed.

    1. Thank you Ronna. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn.

        1. Can you please look at the HeartStrings patterns and let me know. (sorry, Undulating Scarf does not qualify as a drawing entry as it is not a HeartStrings pattern)

          1. I really like the Peek-A-Bead Scarf pattern and think the pattern lends itself to be fussy on the color/placement of beads. Sorry, I didn’t understand before….

  147. Since this is a multi-colored yarn, and I don’t know how long each color is, I would do the Crest of the Wave in a wrap size (I can largen it), since this pattern type looks so good with multi-colored yarns.

  148. That is such a lively and bright colorway that I can see it made into the Fairies and Flowers scarf. I think instead of seed beads, small pearls would look especially nice.

  149. What beautiful yarn! I would use the Beaded Bias Towards Lace pattern. Thanks for the giveaway.

  150. I would like to knit the Lace and Cables Scarf in a wider and longer version. The colors should flow from the cables in an exciting way.

  151. I would knit the Asymmetry wrap or the Spiral Nebula – both would look great in these colors.

  152. I would love to see this yarn in the Asymmetry wrap or the Spiral Nebula- the colors! – either one would look great with those colors.!

  153. So nice to hear from you! As beautiful as it is here today the dull winter sky will arrive in due time. I love wearing fingerless gloves and tis yarn would be verrry interesting made up as such. Warm and pretty…..

    1. Nice to hear from you too, Pamela. I hope you will return here to the blog to post the name of the HeartStrings fingerless gloves pattern you like best that could be made in this yarn. That way I will be able to complete your entry for the yarn drawing.

  154. I see socks:-) I nearly always do though:-) That is beautiful yarn and I think I might see the “V-Neck Kerchief” around my neck in this beautiful yarn!
Thanks for the newsletters and the great patterns you create!

  155. I love the kerchief pattern and think the Schaefer Anne yarn would be perfect!
I was so pleasantly surprised to find the newsletter this morning… very nice!

  156. I would try the Oak Leaf pattern with this yarn. It would bring some wonderful colors to the leaves….

  157. I think it would be fun and bright in Colorful Splendor Lace Scarf. I have to really think when I do lace and this is good for the old brain….

  158. Love the colors in this yarn! Would love to see it done in a lovely scarf like “A Beaded Bias Towards Lace Scarf”, (HeartStrings knitting pattern #A60)

  159. The salt water taffy socks. The colorway is so, so pretty and feminine as is the sock pattern. I love it.

  160. what beautiful hand-painted Schaefer yarn! A beautiful light shaw like the Elegantly Simple Triangle Shawl would look perfect in this yarn! I can’t wait to start it!

  161. I would love to see this in Peek-a-Bead, with some lovely, shiny, burnt orange beads! Or possibly a more traditional choice of the Ring of Lace – a beautiful pattern! Thanks, Jackie!

  162. I think it would be beautiful in the Elegantly Simple Triangle Shawl, even though that calls for laceweight and this is fingering, I bet it would still work.

  163. I would purchase the salt water stretched taffy pattern, and do a lovely long pair of socks in this yarn; it looks like all the yummy flavors of taffy I love, and to have a pattern that works with it would be a bonus! I’ll end up getting the pattern in any case, but that yarn is a yummy taffy-looking yarn.

  164. I think Lace Doily Beret would be a nice hat for fall in those fall colors. And accompany it with Elegantly Simple Triangle Shawl.

  165. I think this yarn would be beautiful knit into the lead and lace scarf. It’s a beautiful design and it would be so interesting to see the color changes along the lines created by the lace pattern.
Thank you for the giveaway. It’s fun to participate.

  166. I really like the Schaefer Anne yarn….the colors are beautiful.
Have been drooling over the Qiviut neck muff, Flared lace smoke ring,
and Smoke ring with lace edging patterns. All or anyone of these patterns is to my liking. I might be able to make more than one item. As you may have noticed, I do go more for instant gratification.
    thank you.

  167. Love the Flowers and Fairy Pattern…that owuld be the one for me. Pick me!!! Pick me!!! TeeHee!!!

  168. I have been admiring Flowers and Fairies for awhile now, so I would use this yarn for that pattern. There are other wonderful patterns, but this one really caught my eye.

  169. Ooh, pretty! I am kinda hooked on the Buds in the Breeze pattern, and would make a scarf-sized version of that….

  170. Ooh, pretty! I am kinda hooked on the Buds in the Breeze pattern and would make a scarf using that motif, I think. Yum!

  171. I think it would make a beautiful Diamond Lace Dress-it-up Scarf. The colors would really stand out with the lace pattern that’s simple, but will impress the non-knitting friends!

  172. The Scottish Thistle lace stole is high on my ‘must knit’ list. Why not in these sunny colors?!

  173. I’m thrilled about the Skinny on Lace scarf/sash pattern (HeartStrings knitting pattern #A87) because it is so versatile, and will work up fairly quickly. Christmas is just around the corner, and I’ve got so little time for the gifts!

This is a great idea. Thanks for the opportunity. 8)

  174. I think the 3-2 sweater would be pretty in this yarn. There are so many beautiful Heartstring patterns it’s like trying to pick out one’s favorite candy !

  175. With this beautiful yarn I would make the Flared Lace Smoke Ring; if there was enough left over I would make the Filigree Lace Wrist Warmers.

  176. Love it! Not sure which pattern I would use, but I have been wanting to try “pooling” so perhaps a scarf with that technique

    1. Planned pooling can be so much fun. I call that technique “faux ikat”. If you search that term on the HeartStringsFiberArts.com site, that will help you find complete filling out your entry comment with a pattern name.

      1. Perfect. Even though I believe this yarn has a different color repeat length than the project shown in the pattern, the included tutorial for faux ikat explains how to make adjustments.

  177. I would use this yarn for the V-Start Neck Kerchief. I would be able to make a bunch of them for myself and gifts with one skein.

    Thanks for having this giveaway

  178. I think I would use the Easy Asymmetry Wrap. It has the word “easy” in it and I am new to lace!
