Bordering on land that is preserved for Louisiana wetlands, I often get to see native wildlife by just stepping outside my door.
Yesterday’s morning visitor was a water snake that had made it all the way to my driveway.
KJ Lodrigue (www.kjun.us) helped identify my buddy —
Has to be a broadbanded watersnake, but the white is HIGHLY unusual. Looks like what is called a “pied” morph. Awesome.
After taking the photos, I got ready for church. By the time I was ready to leave, the snake was gone from sight. No doubt the concrete was heating up and it was ready for cool dip in the canal behind my property.
Yah, snakes. Don’t like them…
wow I don’t think I can live in such place where I get wild visitor, I would be freaking out. Even looking at a baby snake has given me the goosebumps.
You sound so calm about it. You didn’t really say if it was poisonous or not. Living in TN, we have our own fare share and I would prefer they expose themselves to others instead of me!
Oh my god!.. Snakes are horrible!.. They’re creepy!
ugh, I would move away sooo fast! Just can’t stand snakes. Freak me right out! Funny thing is I can handle the deer and the bears no problem where we live but something about snakes sends me running!
Unusual snake.
Gotta love living on the edge of areas, where you get to see the wildlife. I live where deer and bear roam, on the edge of a town on the Oregon coast. The deer come right up on the patio. My 5 year old is really thrilled.
I want to see more critters…
